Hrm, well I guess I'm just a freak then, I went through a pair of cargos last year after two sessions the knees were destroyed as well as the ankles. I was riding bottoms over cuffs and wearing triple 8 kevlar knee pads (which I don't think they sell anymore, but are the BEST bads I've ever worn). They look kinda like these: http://secure.rollerwarehouse.com/item/TSG/KNEE_GASKETS/id/152TSG6402/
but I think the triple 8 have better coverage. My skates had plastic buckles (k2 nems), but I'm pretty sure the ankles getting chopped up were due to sliding out on ledges (fucking kind grind is teh hard).
I do like dickies pants overall, they have double panel and they're sprayed with some non-stain fabric stiffener thing as well. I'm going to start wearing those out skating and I'll look into the 514s Al.
Thanks for the tips, END DISCUSSION OF PANTZ!

Is there any good compromise between safety and style when it comes to pads? I personally wear wrist guards and undercover knee pads when I'm out just doing ledges and shit, but I'll put on a helmet when I want to go to central park and do some (small) gaps. It really saddens me when I hear about people dieing or almost dieing from blading. That pro in the UK and then Cameron card here in the US.....remember folks shit like this can happen:
