Arlo's Rolling Zine

Back in 2002, Arlo put together a skating zine called Rolling. This was underground style, black and white Xerox copied on white paper, folded in half and stapled. I don't think there was any distribution, maybe a few made it outside SoCal but I doubt it. There were a few advertisers, most of which are no longer in business of course.

How to Win the X Games (part 2)

In the first article, I covered the basics of a competition and how to the judges get their scores. Now we'll dive in and see what it's gonna take to make the finals, and how a winning run should look. Even if you don't end up winning the comp, I'll guarantee you'll do better in the rankings after reading this.

How to Win the X Games (part 1)

Ok, so we're not allowed at the X Games anymore. Maybe "How to Win the AIL Championships". Well, maybe not win the AIL. How about "do better at your local skate competition." Yeah, that's more realistic.

More Money Than God

Anyone who has seen the great documentary Barely Dead knows that around 1997 the industry was booming. There was more money than we knew what to do with. The king of the industry back then was Tribe Distribution. Tribe was the umbrella company started by the guys at Senate including Medium, 976, Grand, Super Computer Robot and maybe a few other companies I can't remember right now. I'll get more into the whole Tribe thing at a later date. What's important for this article is that Tribe was huge, "we have our own warehouse just for a skatepark" huge.
